Ronit grew up in Istanbul, Turkey. Drawn to both art and film, she moved to London in 2004 to do a BA in Fine Arts (New Media) at Chelsea College of Art and Design, where she discovered and pursued the art of making videos. Since then she’s had a meandering journey editing dance films, commercials, documentaries and narrative features, all the while developing a taste for writing and directing her own films.
Ronit now proudly identifies as both a Film Editor and a Writer/Director, recognising how each practice enriches the other, and how pursuing both makes her a happier, more fulfilled storyteller.
As an editor, she thrives on close collaboration with directors, fostering a safe and creative space in the edit suite to explore and uncover the heart of each story. Her editing work includes award-winning films that have screened at international festivals such as Palm Springs ShortFest, BFI Flare: London LGBTQ+, Iris Prize, Encounters, Cork, Istanbul Film Festival and BBC See Hear, among many others.
Her directorial debut short, Honeymoon (2016) is distributed by NQV Media on Vimeo on Demand and Amazon Prime, following a vibrant festival round. Her dark comedy Funeral of a Marriage Counsellor (2022), was a finalist at the IMDb Script to Screen Awards 2016 and selected for BFI South West Connect & Collaborate in 2020. As a Raising Films writer-in-residence in 2019, she began developing her short dark comedy Baa, Baa, which went on to become a finalist for The Pitch Fund 2024. Most recently, her micro short comedy Pump Off (2025) premiered at WFTV Festival in Manchester.
Ronit was a Creative Mentor as part of the BFI Film Academy South West 2022 programme; and for Bristol Film School (BoomSatsuma) in 2024 and 2025. She was a judge for RTS West of England Awards Editing category in 2025. She is also a member of WFTV and BAFTA Connect.
